چکیده

Main results 20 trials were included (14 RCTs) evaluating 3 types of vaccine: live attenuated aerosol (n=26 369), inactivated aerosol (n=1506), and inactivated parenteral (n=23 628). Live aerosol vaccines were not effective for preventing either type of clinically defined influenza (2 trials). Inactivated vaccines were effective in preventing influenza: both inactivated aerosol and inactivated parenteral vaccines prevented unspecified clinically defined influenza, and inactivated parenteral vaccines prevented specified clinically defined influenza (table). Live aerosol and inactivated parenteral vaccines prevented serologically confirmed influenza (table). No studies of inactivated aerosol reported serologically confirmed influenza. Vaccine and placebo did not differ for working days lost (3 trials), hospital admissions (1 trial), or complications (2 trials). Local tenderness and soreness were increased in patients who received inactivated parenteral vaccine (table). No increase occurred in systemic myalgia, fever, or fatigue.

Virus shedding after H9N2 strain challenge of SPF Chickens immunized by an experimental Nano-Adjuvant and commercial oil emulsion avian influenza (H9N2) vaccines

Abstract Background and Aims: Vaccination of poultry has a major impact on the prevention and control of avian influenza viruses. Nanobiotechnology techniques provide a new approach for improvement of influenza vaccine efficacy. In this study, efficacy of an inactivated nano-adjuvant vaccine developed based on an endemic H9N2 virus was evaluated in SPF chickens. Materials and Methods: I...

Evaluation and Comparison of the Potential Immunogenicity of Two Commercial Inactivated Bivalent Newcastle and Avian Influenza Vaccines in SPF Chicken

In the present study, the potency and immunogenicity of the inactivated bivalent vaccine of Newcastle disease (ND) and avian influenza (AI) produced by Razi institute in Iran were compared with a similar imported vaccine administered by standard methods to specific-pathogen-free (SPF) chicken. A total of 150 twenty-one-day-old SPF chickens were used for evaluating Razi and imported inactivated ...

Developing Vaccines against Foot-and-Mouth Disease: a Biotechnological Approach

Foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) is a contagious viral disease of livestock with significant economic effect. It is prevalent in various regions of Asia, Africa, and South America. The causative agent of this disease is called foot-and-mouth disease virus (FMDV), which is a member of Aphthovirus genus. Vaccination is an effective technique to prevent the complications of FMD and to eradicate the di...

Failure of protection and enhanced pneumonia with a US H1N2 swine influenza virus in pigs vaccinated with an inactivated classical swine H1N1 vaccine.

Two US swine influenza virus (SIV) isolates, A/Swine/Iowa/15/1930 H1N1 (IA30) and A/Swine/Minnesota/00194/2003 H1N2 (MN03), were evaluated in an in vivo vaccination and challenge model. Inactivated vaccines were prepared from each isolate and used to immunize conventional pigs, followed by challenge with homologous or heterologous virus. Both inactivated vaccines provided complete protection ag...

Virus-Vectored Influenza Virus Vaccines

Despite the availability of an inactivated vaccine that has been licensed for >50 years, the influenza virus continues to cause morbidity and mortality worldwide. Constant evolution of circulating influenza virus strains and the emergence of new strains diminishes the effectiveness of annual vaccines that rely on a match with circulating influenza strains. Thus, there is a continued need for ne...
